Bhuj is the heart of Kutch — a walled old city of palaces, temples and busy bazaars, and the gateway to the White Rann. At its centre, Hamirsar Lake catches the evening light, while Aina Mahal and the Italian-Gothic Prag Mahal tell the story of the Kutch royal family in mirrors, carvings and chandeliers.

Around the city, Kutch's craft traditions are very much alive. In Bhujodi, families weave shawls and rugs on handlooms; in Ajrakhpur, block printers still make ajrakh cloth with natural dyes. Further north, the road runs out to the Great Rann, where the salt desert turns white in winter and glows on full-moon nights, and to Kala Dungar, the highest point in Kutch, for views across the Rann.

Our Bhuj villas — Courtyard Garden 3BHK and Verandah Garden 2BHK to book instantly, plus the 6BHK, 4BHK and the 10BHK Cahaya Bhuj Estate for big groups — each have a private garden, breakfast every day and a caretaker at the villa through the day — with pickleball and turf for an extra charge. They make a calm base: explore all day, then come home to space and quiet.

Best time to visit: November to February, when the White Rann is at its whitest and Rann Utsav is on (1 Nov 2026 – 7 Mar 2027). October and March are quieter and still pleasant; summers are very hot.

Getting here: Bhuj airport and Bhuj railway station are both 25–30 minutes from our villas. From Mumbai, fly to Bhuj (about 1.5 hours, direct). From Ahmedabad it is roughly 350–390 km (about 7–8 hours) by road. Mandvi's beach is about 1 hr 15 min away, so it's easy to add a few nights by the sea.

Bhuj + Mandvi packages

Desert and sea in one trip — 4 or 5 nights, a private villa in each town, breakfast every day.
